Prohibiting Breed-Based Insurance Discrimination

Prohibits restrictions on renters’ insurance policies based solely on the harboring of a dog of a specific breed or mixture of breeds.

Online Pet Sales Protection

Amends existing law which prohibits repossession of dogs and cats in purchase contracts to include sales through online websites.

Animal Shelter Donation on Dog License Applications

Assembly Bill 4910 / Senate Bill 1373

Requires dog license applications to include a space for donations to municipal animal shelters or those under municipal contract for animal sheltering services.

Animal Cruelty and Risk Protection Orders

Assembly Bill 5040 and Senate Bill 5935.

If enacted into law, will provide that people who have been granted a final order of protection shall, upon their request, be issued a card which contains information about people and animals covered under such order.
