Horse Protection

  • A. 270/S. 1960 Bans use of performance enhancing drugs in horseracing.

  • A. 297 Requires installation and use of surveillance cameras at all racetracks.

  • A. 1162/S. 5438 Ends NYS subsidies generated from video lottery gaming to horseracing industry.

  • A. 3517 Establishes a commission on retired racehorses to track retirement of racehorses.

  • A.3552-A/S.1677-A Increases fines for selling disabled horses and other Equidae.

  • A. 3815 Establishes a retirement fund for racehorses.

  • A.5109-A/S.2163-B Prohibits the slaughter of horses for human or animal consumption and further provides that it is unlawful to import, export, sell, purchase, barter, transport, or possess a horse or horseflesh with the intent of slaughtering or having another person slaughter the horse for human or animal consumption.

  • A. 7684/S.4914 Makes it unlawful to offer carriage horse rides to the public in New York City and provides for the humane disposition of horses used in the rental horse business.
